Temporary Graduate Visa (VC485)

If you are an international student who will be completing your studies in Australia, the Subclass 485 Temporary Graduate visa provides an opportunity to secure a work visa in Australia for a duration of up to four years. It serves as a popular pathway for students aiming to eventually attain permanent residency in Australia. This visa has two streams:

Graduate Work Stream

If you have completed a minimum of two years of study in Australia and have recently graduated with skills and qualifications that are in high demand within the Australian job market, this stream may be an option for you. To secure a visa through this stream, you must receive a nomination for a qualification that aligns with an occupation listed on the skilled occupation list. Opting for this stream enables you to reside, study, and work in Australia for a temporary period of up to 18 months.

Post-Study Work Stream

You can consider this stream, if you have studied in Australia and achieved a qualification of a degree or higher from an Australian CRICOS approved institution. Under this stream, you are granted the opportunity to temporarily reside, work, and pursue further studies in Australia. The duration of this temporary stay is up to two years if you will obtain Australian Bachelor’s or Master’s degree; three years for a research-based Master’s degree; and four years for individuals holding a PhD or Doctorate.
